The file contains a great deal ...Various PartiesReference, Research, InformationKHS OrderSubject file relating to the Australian artist A M E Bale who lived at 83 Walpole Street, Kew (Vic). The file contains a great deal of photocopied biographical information, as well as some newspaper articles/clippings. In 1981, the Kew Historical Society applied for the house to be registered by the Historic Buildings Preservation Council of Victoria. Accompanying the application was a citation by Timothy Hubbard (1981). A reply by the Boyce Pizzey, from the Council (1 May 1981) indicated that the building was of “insufficient architectural or historic importance” to warrant registration. The letter also indicated that the current owners had been requested to provide “a professional photographic record of the house and contents and submit these, along with all specifications and drawings, to the Latrobe Library, Melbourne”. The file includes an anonymous handwritten record of the contents of the house, which were sold at auction in 1981.artists - kew (vic.), a m e bale, walpole street - kew (vic.)artists - kew (vic.), a m e bale, walpole street - kew (vic.) -

Creek Cemetery in Warrandyte. kew (vic) - history artists - kew ...Various partiesReference, Research, InformationSecondary Values (KHS Imposed Order)Subject file containing materials relating to an early member of the Kew Historical Society, Alma Figuerola, a Victorian artist living in ‘D’Estaville’, Barry Street, Kew. A newspaper article with photographs, published in The Herald (1958) provides evidence for the dating of the press photographs of Alma Figuerola in the Society’s collection. The file contains dated correspondence between the Society and Alma Figuerola relating to her health and to the death of her mother. The file also contains a ‘Sincere Thanks’ card from Carmen and Silvia Figuerola to the Society following Alma Figuerola’s funeral, noting the date of her death on 8 December 1970. The card gives the address of the house, in 1970, as 4 Sir William Street. In the file there is a letter from 1971 pertaining to the return of wedding dresses and other materials stored at D’Estaville for the Society (which at that stage did not have its own archive). A solicitor’s note from 1973 to the Society contains a refutation of the information about the house contained in Dorothy Rogers’ A History of Kew.kew (vic) - history, artists - kew (vic), alma figuerola, d'estaville, 7 barry street (kew)kew (vic) - history, artists - kew (vic), alma figuerola, d'estaville, 7 barry street (kew) -
